What is your role at Avison Young?
Principal, Vice President Project Management. In this role, I work on business development (internal and external), presentations, broker and PM pitch support, marketing materials, proposals. Projects: client relations, project initiation, team assembly, budgeting and schedule development, high level meeting participation, risk and issue monitoring and resolution, project oversight and directive. Internal: project manager mentoring, billing, PjM advisory.
How did you get into commercial real estate?
Pursed career in design/ architecture in commercial real estate. Founding Partner in Arch/Design firm for 14 years. Transitioned to Project Management.
Share an example of a time you delivered economic, social and environmental value to your clients, colleagues or community?
I have always been very committed to causes and efforts that better our footprint on the environment. When starting with Avison Young, I noticed there was not any group leading that effort, so I initiated a meeting at my first Annual General Meeting (AGM) with other LEED accredited professionals from of our corporate directory. This was the start of the Global Citizenship conversation. My work on the board of the USGBC NJ for the last 10 years has contributed to our efforts for advocacy for sustainable legislation and promotion of sustainable practices.
How do you see our Purpose reflected in your day-to-day work?
The focus on people, the environmental and social impacts of what I do and how I behave , whether internal or external to Avison Young, has always been front and center in my work and my life. My architectural practice was client centric and focused on providing a individualized experience to meet their goals and objectives. The main reason that Avison Young is such a good match for me, is that their purpose aligns with my own.
How has Avison Young supported you in bringing Brand Purpose to life in your work?
As Avison Young has continued to mature and further develop the Brand Purpose, additional focused efforts towards the four values and focus have made materials and information available reinforcing those initiatives. The marketing and consulting resources and the individual breakout sessions and webinars help to deliver the message to all of the employees which further embeds the brand and the culture that Avison Young represents. Since my position is more involved with Brand Purpose on a daily basis, any initiative to bring this message to the rest of the folks in our organization is important, in my opinion.
