Rob Newton is a Principal in the PDR team, having joined the business in 2005. Based in their Edinburgh office, Rob assumes responsibility for the planning team in Scotland. His planning career has spanned 20 years in private sector consultancy and includes previous spells in Manchester and London with two other national firms of property advisors.

Rob has advised on a number of major city centre development projects, including Edinburgh St James for Nuveen Real Estate, the Aberdeen Bon Accord masterplan for Land Securities and British Land, the Holyrood Campus masterplan for the University of Edinburgh and the Granton Waterfront masterplan for the City of Edinburgh Council.

Rob also continues to advise operational clients with an emphasis on the retail sector, including Aldi Stores Ltd, Next and Dobbies Garden Centres. He also advises a number of retail park funds on planning related asset management matters.

Rob is a regular contributor to the Scottish Property Federation’s Planning & Development Committee and the Edinburgh Development Forum, on behalf of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.
