David Herbert, is a Principal in AY’s Downtown Chicago office, is head of the company’s Private Equity Advisory Group which includes Capital Market Services, Tenant Representation, as well as advisory expertise in Investments Services largely on the behalf of family offices and other sponsors. David was recently named to AY’s U.S. Executive Committee for his proven client track record and leadership skills.

David brings over 21 years of real estate advisory experience, having completed in excess of 400 sales, leasing, and principal led transactions. He has been involved in all aspects of commercial real estate, including corporate lease acquisitions and dispositions, build-to-suit projects, building purchase and sale lease projects, principal investing, financial analysis, and consulting. As a Senior Vice President in DTZ’s Chicago office from 2010 to 2015, David focused on both local and national advisory pursuits, concentrating on the financial services, private equity and family office sectors.

Prior to his career at DTZ, David worked in investment banking in New York for over five years on the private-equity coverage side of the business (Financial Sponsors Group) where he worked with the likes of the Blackstone Group, KKR, Bain Capital, Thomas H. Lee Partners and the Carlyle Group to name a few clients. His concentration was on public and private financial sponsored leverage buyouts, recapitalizations, stapled financings, and numerous advisory projects and corporate situations with a focus on real estate oriented transactions.
