Benjamin Burns joined Avison Young in 2023 as a Senior Associate assisting Graeme Webster and Jessica Thalen in leading the Capital Markets commercial real estate team in Ottawa, with a focus on investment sales and owner occupier solutions. 

Prior to joining Avison Young, Benjamin worked alongside Graeme and Jessica at Koble Commercial Real estate as a sales associate. From 2022-2023, Benjamin assisted the Koble team in servicing over ~$100,000,000 in commercial real estate sales across Ontario. These were highlighted by notable Ottawa portfolio sales in both the industrial and office asset classes.  

Benjamin got his start in commercial real estate in 2018 working for Colliers, focusing on office leasing specializing in both Landlord and Tenant representation. During this time, he worked to assist local Landlord groups such as Merkburn and Tower Building Management, as well as institutional clients such as LaSalle, QuadReal and Bentall Kennedy Greenoak, to provide customized leasing solutions for their buildings.

After his time at Colliers, Benjamin enjoyed running a residential real estate and land development team with his former business partner in the greater Durham area before eventually returning to Ottawa full time. During this period, he served a member of the Young Professional Network committee for the Ontario Real Estate Association. 

Since returning to Ottawa, Benjamin has cemented himself as a reputable and hard-working member of the Ottawa commercial real estate community working with clients, customers, institutions, investors, and other agents to provide real estate solutions to complex equations. He strives to provide professional and quality care to clients and others alike, tackling multi-faceted real estate scenarios with eagerness and ease. Known as a problem solver, Benjamin will not rest until the best possible result has been secured.
