Experienced commercial real estate expert, Katie Kruger, assumes role as Market Leader with strategic growth objectives for business lines and top talent

Denver, CO – Global commercial real estate advisor, Avison Young today announces the appointment of Katie Kruger as Principal and Market Leader for its Denver office. She will focus on growing the office in brokerage, property management, project management and valuation services. Recruitment of top industry talent to support the expanding service lines will also be a top priority for Kruger.

“Avison Young sees Colorado as a major stop between the coasts and a commercial real estate market with tremendous growth ahead. As one of Colorado’s most influential voices on the economy and policy, and how it impacts the commercial real estate industry, Katie will continue Avison Young’s Colorado presence and growth, while ensuring our clients are able to effectively navigate an ever-changing investment and business landscape,” said Chris Cooper, Principal & Regional Managing Director – Western US.

Kruger has had 24-year career spanning a variety of roles in commercial real estate. She comes to Avison Young from CBRE where she served as Market Leader and oversaw all advisory lines of business in Colorado including leasing, sales, debt and structured finance, valuation and property management for the five Colorado offices. She is considered one of Colorado’s most influential thought leaders on Colorado’s changing economy and public policy advocacy and is an expert property tax specialist. As a CEO of the Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors (DMCAR), she has led the Colorado industry and a coalition of industry leaders to negotiate more favorable building performance standards laws at the Denver and state levels. She will stay on in a small capacity through August of this year to assist with DMCAR’s transition.

“I chose Avison Young because it’s a place where experts aren’t just supported — they are empowered,” said Kruger. “Being privately held means the firm can move fast, stay agile, and truly put clients first in a market that’s evolving by the minute. Avison Young not only encourages its professionals to build their own brands within the firm’s framework, but also equips us with the market intelligence and flexibility to meet clients wherever they’re headed. And with Colorado poised for incredible growth, there’s no better platform to lead from.”

Kruger is succeeding Marcy Moneypenny, who served as Avison Young’s Market Leader in the Denver office for the past five years. Moneypenny’s passion for the women of commercial real estate will remain at the heart of what she does. Her next chapter will focus on platform dedicated to helping women in commercial real estate rise faster, lead with influence, and claim more than just a seat at the table.
