Breaktime acquires new headquarter space at 63 Franklin Street in Boston

Avison Young arranged the $6.3M sale of the property on behalf of Breaktime, a homelessness nonprofit

Boston, MA – Global commercial real estate advisor Avison Young has arranged the purchase of 63 Franklin Street in Boston, MA on behalf of Breaktime, a young adult homelessness nonprofit organization. Breaktime purchased the property for $6.3 million and expands into the property with intentions to transform the empty 34,000-square-feet (sf) space into its new headquarters. Breaktime will also leverage Avison Young’s project management services team to oversee their move and renovation of the property, which began on December 13, 2024. 

Breaktime was represented by Principals Brandon Dickason and Jeff Gates, based in Avison Young’s Boston office. The seller, Zurich Alternative Asset Management was represented by Colliers. 

“Savvy buyers are taking advantage of the current market conditions, with building sales currently below peak pricing, and Breaktime is no exception,” said Dickason. “This was a very special project for Avison Young and we’re grateful for the opportunity to play a role in helping Breaktime grow and implement their long-term strategy of creating a new ‘Hub’ for their team and to continue providing critical services to help solve young adult homelessness.”

The vacant property at 63 Franklin Street is a five-story building in Downtown Boston. Breaktime and their partners will occupy the full property, which will serve as a comprehensive resource center for young adults experiencing homelessness. The new space will offer program space to launch more careers, a secure and comfortable drop-in center with food/laundry/shower facilities, a health clinic (in partnership with Boston Health Care for the Homeless), and retail space employing the organization’s young adult Associates.
