New affiliate office in St. John’s brings Avison Young a new depth of experience

St. John’s, Newfoundland – Avison Young today announces an expansion of its service delivery to clients with the addition of an affiliate office in St. John’s, Newfoundland, broadening the firm’s collective intelligence with 17 offices across the country.

The St. John’s office adds to the existing affiliation agreement between Avison Young and Halifax Managing Director, Michael Brown, who oversees the Atlantic territory comprised of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and now Newfoundland. Joining Brown will be Brandon Copeland, who will lead the St. John’s office in offering the region a broad range of expertise rooted in Avison Young’s innovation and insights.

"Growing Avison Young’s footprint in Canada further solidifies our strong Canadian roots that date back nearly 50 years, so I’m pleased to bolster our presence in the Atlantic region as a key part of our strategic priorities,” said Mark Fieder, Principal and President of Avison Young in Canada. "Welcoming Brandon gives me great joy and I am confident that we’ll achieve success together with Michael.”

The affiliation will deliver strong leadership for clients across a range of specialties, including sales, lease administration, and tenant representation.

"Opening an Avison Young affiliate office in St. John’s has been an important part of my growth strategy for the Atlantic region for some time and I’m delighted to take this step,” said Brown. “This marks an important day for commercial real estate in Newfoundland – and I could not be more pleased to have Brandon at the helm to deliver valuable, measurable results for our clients. I know he will successfully lead our St. John’s office with great skill.”

A graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland, Copeland brings more than 10 years of experience. He started his career in real estate development, managing a $40M land development portfolio, and has also worked in investment and consulting, providing counsel on project viability to developers, the public sector, and community groups in the realms of urban planning and ecosystem hubs. Most recently, Copeland worked for one of St. John’s’ largest property management companies, managing the city’s largest Class A office building and closing more than $50M worth of retail lease and office sales transactions between 2020 and 2024.

“I am thrilled to be a part of a company with a presence in the Atlantic, throughout Canada and all over the world – demonstrating a commitment to strategic growth and opportunity,” said Copeland. “Avison Young will open the door to allow us to further enhance our service offering for clients in St. John’s.”
