Newest Calgary Principal will solidify firm’s Alberta valuation business

Toronto, ON – Global commercial real estate advisor Avison Young announces the appointment of Chris Chornohos as Principal and Director, Valuation & Advisory Services in the firm’s Calgary office.

“I’m delighted to welcome Chris to Avison Young as he brings two decades of solid experience from which we can draw,” said Matthew McWatters, Principal, Managing Director & Canadian Leader, Valuation, Advisory & Property Tax Services. “His valuation knowledge coupled with his background in brokerage, investment, and land sales will make him a multi-faceted, sought-after expert on the team – an important combination we endeavour to provide to our clients as a part of our holistic approach.”

Chornohos will be responsible for expanding his network and identifying opportunities across Alberta and the rest of the country, cultivating a vibrant team, and providing valuable mentorship. He will harness cutting-edge technology to deliver comprehensive valuations for our clients across multi-family properties, land & development, and self-storage ventures.

With more than 20 years’ experience, Chornohos has developed a breadth of knowledge of underwriting and valuation for regional and international real estate firms. He has also garnered experience in investment and land sales, having served as Vice President for a major commercial real estate firm, specializing in development, brokerage, investment sales, and land sales for Western Canadian private, institutional, and corporate investors.

“Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting client needs by putting them first – and I look forward to continuing to do this, backed by a company that shares my perspective and provides a vast network of professionals that I can tap into for counsel and partnership,” said Chornohos. “This is an exciting, new chapter in my career and I’m eager to get going.”

Chornohos holds the designation of AACI, Accredited Appraiser, from the Appraisal Institute of Canada and the designation of MRICS from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Business Operations from the DeVry Institute of Technology and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation from the University of British Columbia.
