After his apprenticeship as a merchant of the real estate and housing industry in a non-profit housing company in Schleswig-Holstein, Volker Söhl moved to Berlin in 1984 and worked with Victoria Versicherung and a larger Berlin house management firm in the area of house management and renting of apartments and commercial premises.

From 1990 to 1998, Volker worked as a broker at Aengevelt Immobilien. He was primarily responsible for sales of trusts and sales of commercial real estate to private investors, project developers and institutional investors.

In 1998, he moved to the investment division of Müller International Immobilien (now BNP Paribas Real Estate), where he was responsible for the transactions of office, retail and hotel real estates as well as real estate for various investor groups.

Since August 2017, Volker has become director of investment for Avison Young - Germany GmbH in Berlin.
