RoryMurphy joined Avison Young in 2024 as a Principal and the New York City Market Leader. In this role, Rory focuses on overseeing the company’s continued growth in the region, as well as strategic client services and business development opportunities across both local and national platforms.

Prior to joining Avison Young, Rory was a partner at Transwestern’s New York Office, specializing in tenant representation on both local and national levels. He served on Transwestern’s Board of Directors and was a member of the company’s Executive Committee. Rory has completed transactions for a broad range of clients, including BDG, Berkshire Hathaway, Adyen, Walmart, and Biomed Realty. In 2018, he was named to Real Estate Forum’s national “50 Under 40” list and was recognized multiple times in Transwestern’s Champions Club, earning a top 10 distinction in 2019. Before his tenure at Transwestern, Rory was with Cushman & Wakefield, where he also focused on tenant representation and was named one of the “20 to Watch in 2012” in Commercial Real Estate by the Commercial Observer.

Rory received his bachelor’s degree in history from Colby College, where he was a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team and a recipient of the George J. Mitchell Scholarship. He currently lives in Westport, CT with his wife and three children.
