In collaboration with their corporate internal design team, Avison Young Studio Project Services has renovated a new office for Arcadis in Long Island City, New York.
Keeping in mind the requirement to utilize existing conditions and remain within a specified budget, we have organized the office as two separate working areas, divided by private collaboration and amenity spaces.
Upon entering, visitors are welcomed into an intimate reception lobby reflective of the Arcadis brand. The design features a clear pathway to the open-café and workstations and encourages collaboration amongst the team.
Simplicity of movement is a key element throughout the space. Subdivided into a series of connected units, the private office zone encourages circulation and connects the open café located at the northern end of the space. The semi-public zone serves as a transition between management and team members, and connects offices, reception lobby, conference rooms, study rooms, and wellness rooms.
The open work area is comprised of modular furniture that can be reconfigured as change or reorganization in project teams are needed. The space is framed by large windows along the perimeter which provide a great amount of natural light.
